For most of those who travel to Atlanta by plane, their stay will start with superlatives, for the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is the world's busiest airport as far as passenger and aircraft traffic is concerned. Inside the building one is greeted by the most famous son of the city: A permanent exhibition is dedicated to Martin Luther King Jr., who was born here. His spirit can still be felt to be around in many places in Atlanta, be it in the famous Atlanta Underground, or in graffitis sprayed onto the walls. The Atlanta Underground by the way is sort of a huge underground shopping mall in which I found anything I could ever think of - and more.
A visit to the World of Coca Cola, a huge museum right in the heart of downtown Atlanta, turned out to be no less entertaining than shopping the Underground. In this exciting museum you can enjoy a journey through time with the most famous bottle in the world and taste all kinds of international Coke Products, which do indeed do differ in taste.
After all this concentrated marketing impact I was longing for a bit more of serious entertainment, so I decided to visit the famous Margaret Mitchell House and Museum. For every film lover the precious exhibits from the set of the film "Gone with the Wind" are a pleasure to look at and so is Margaret Mitchell's apartment. Luckily most places are air-conditioned, so a midsummer trip to subtropical Atlanta is by no means sudatory and always worth the effort!
